Low urine creatinine leading to high protein/creatinine ratio?
Hello all! Diagnosed SLE.
I’ve had a few posts here due to some past lab work revealing some very mild amounts of protein identified in urinalyses. We’ve been under a close eye from the rheumatologist and nephrologist as they’ve been repeating tests.
Everything came back negative on this most recent urinalysis except:
Low urine creatinine: 16.5 mg/dl Normal(ish) protein: 5.9 mg/dl High protein/creatinine ratio: 358 mg/g creatinine
I know that a high PCR can be indicative of lupus nephritis but mostly because it can indicate a high protein amount in the urine, but in this case it appears high due to a low creatinine. Worth noting that my wife was instructed to be “very well hydrated” for these labs and was very much hydrated more than usual.
My question is: is this cause for concern for potential kidney involvement? Nephrology appt on Wednesday but we’re worried.
Thank you!
