Account hacked (email and password changed) - will my account be closed until facebook process my account retrieval?

************update*************

So submitting ID did not work. I submitted three times, following all the instructions clearly, and was still rejected. I decided to bet everything on the OCULUS method and went through their customer support. I talked to the agent via chat since it's the fastest. He was very helpful and understanding and actually asked me for information on the incident first so that he could relay the info to FB. Within one business day, I get an email from FB asking for detailed information, evidence (any screenshots), and ID. I replied with a long email explaining pretty much all the info that I wrote down below and attached screenshots of the hacking notifications I received, fb login attempts (asking me to put in an old pw), and emails from years ago when I first created my fb account. I tried to gathered as much evidence as possible to prove that the I'm the owner of the account. FB replied not even an hour later with a link to reset everything. I went in and changed the PW, priority email, and set a 2FA (using an app) ASAP. The hacker actually tried to log in to my account again (i think) because I got an email notification asking if I needed help logging in because there was an unsuccessful login attempt. This was after I had reset everything though so he can go fuck himself i guess heh

Hello, rather a long post...

My Facebook account was hacked at midnight while I was sleeping. I got three emails from Facebook, all two minutes apart, saying "your facebook security code," "did you log into facebook from somewhere new?" and "facebook password change." And before I could do anything, the hacker took over my account.

When I try to log in with my original email address, it still recognizes me and my profile picture shows up so I think my email is still there. HOWEVER, the hacker changed both password and security check email address (he changed it from my gmail to a hotmail). Because of this, I cannot go through any of the security checks to retrieve my account since all the reset codes, links, etc. are being sent to the hacker's email. The only email I am still receiving from facebook under my email address is "Someone may have accessed your account" this but does not actually help.

I tried using the "facebook password change" to access any sort of support that actually works. The email said if you didn't do this, secure your account, so I followed the link to secure the account. It asked for a 2FA code which I do not have the access to, so I just clicked need another way to authenticate? Then other options - get more help, which allowed me to enter an email address that they will use to message me about recovering my account and upload a picture of my driver's license. After submitting my license, it said they'll get back to me within 48 hours.

I guess all I can do now is wait and see if I get a response but I am not that hopeful seeing how many people have already posted regarding hacked accounts and how unhelpful facebook was. I just feel so uneasy knowing that the hacker has access to some of my pictures, my friends' profiles, all my messages (which could have personal information like a home address), and some of the basic personal information (like the uni I attended, etc). Even though I have not been super active on Facebook, I am getting more paranoid than ever.

- Does anyone know if Facebook will close my account where even the hacker cannot access it until they process my ID? (My friends are telling me that they cannot find my profile anymore so I am wondering if this is because I reported it hacked through that secure my account process.)

- Or is there any way to ensure that my account is closed until so?

- The hacker was able to skip the very first step when logging in from a new device, which is entering the security code. I know for a fact the hacker doesn't have access to my actual email account where the code was sent (the very first email sent to me relating to the hack), so how were they able to proceed any further?

- It seems like a lot of the hacked accounts are setting up a new email address under Hotmail. Does anyone know if this is like a specific group of hackers?

FYI: In case anyone is wondering I am not super active on Facebook and mostly use it for messenger and groups (with college friends), so I am pretty sure the hacking was through using my leaked password. I have never clicked on any suspicious sites, links, or whatsoever. I have recently reset passwords on all the major sites/accounts after receiving a password leakage notification but forgot about Facebook because it's always just logged in on my phone.

Set your password differently on all your accounts and sites. I learned my lesson hard.
