[Acne] What are the potential long-term side effects of taking isotretinoin?
So I'm a teenager (13 y/o, male) and have been dealing with severe (grade 3, as far as I know) acne for around a year now. I have tried a LOT of things, from natural skincare to topical treatment, there however, is no improvement. Although I take great care to not pop any of my pimples, they always leave a mark behind.
I believe my acne might have to do a lot with genetics, as both parents and a handful of my relatives had quite severe acne.
I had gone to a derm recently and she prescribed me doxycycline and isotretinoin (20mg),. I did a lot of research on the side effects and most doctors say that the side effects are minimal and reversible. My derm too, says that there are very minimal to no side effects of this course. I am, however, worried of what the long term side effects of isotretinoin may look like.
I know this is kind of a weird question to ask, but what are some popular drugs that are comparable to isotretinoin in terms of long term and short term side effects?
